Brand Strategy Fellowship
The Working Assembly is launching a Brand Strategy Fellowship for curious, cross-disciplinary thinkers ready to build a career in brand strategy. The fellowship is open to recent grads, early career strategists and those pivoting from another field into strategy.
The fellowship is a structured, six-month immersion in how brand strategy gets made; starting with early research and positioning all the way through to creative execution. We're especially interested in people who arrive with developed skills in an adjacent domain: journalism, research, design, social science, and beyond. We believe different lenses and diverse skillsets make strategy sharper.
You'll work directly with our strategy and creative teams on real client projects, contributing meaningfully from the start while building the foundations of your own strategic practice.
What You'll Do
- Research audiences, competitors, and cultural trends to surface insights that fuel brand positioning and creative direction
- Contribute to strategic narrative and framework development
- Collaborate with strategy directors on client presentations and new business pitches
- Participate in cross-disciplinary brainstorms where strategy connects directly to design, copy and tactics
- Develop a point of view (and learn how to present and defend it)
Who This Is For
This fellowship is designed for people who are:
- No longer in school: this is a full-time, six-month commitment (recent grads, career changers, and non-traditional backgrounds are all welcome)
- Curious about how brands are built, not just communicated
- Bringing transferable experience (writing, research, cultural analysis, business, creative practice) that enriches strategic thinking
- Based in or able to relocate to NYC
What You'll Get
- A dedicated strategy mentor throughout the full six months
- Real client work you contributed to (and can put in your portfolio)
The Details
- Expected Fellowship Dates: June 1 – December 18, 2026
- Compensation: $25/hour
- Location: New York City–based role with an expectation of 3–5 days per week in the office
depending on level of experience
